Taiwan
Dive has many trips to various places both on the mainland
and the islands of Taiwan, see our diving
sites section for details.
The
weather is starting to warm up now so anyone thinking
of taking courses or enjoying dives in Spring and Summer.
should be careful to wear something to protect themselves
from the very hot sun. A hat is a good idea, waterproof
suntan lotion with a protection factor of at least 15
is essential. Go for a higher protection factor if you
have sensitive skin. Wear sunglasses [brown or grey
polarised lenses are best do not wear pink or orange]
Drink plenty of water before and after diving as dehydration
is a real risk. Visibility in spring and summer varies
a great deal according to the amount of recent rainfall.
You can expect anything from 5m to 20m, more if you
dive well offshore. Water temp is usually between 26C
to 30C but thermoclines on very hot days can bring the
water temp right down to 22C. Generally speaking a 2
or a 3mm wet suit will suffice. I would advise against
diving with a 'shortie' as there are sometimes stingers
in the water and difficult exits so full length wet
suits are best.
If you wish to buy gear I can offer 20-25% off any gear
purchased in Kaohsiung [wetsuits, fins etc] and up to
35% discount off Regulators and BCDs. Please mail me
here
for prices.
